Kredibilitas dan relevansi peneliti dapat dilihat dari banyak indikator, salah satunya adalah jumlah kutipan atau sitasi sebagai referensi riset lain. Semakin banyak suatu artikel ilmiah disitasi menunjukkan bahwa publikasi tersebut dibaca dan digunakan oleh peneliti lain. Hal ini tentu saja juga membawa dampak yang baik pada reputasi UGM sebagai universitas riset kelas dunia.
Berdasarkan data dari Scopus per 22 Agustus 2023, publikasi UGM dengan urutan sitasi terbanyak diperoleh dari artikel berjudul ‘Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2): An overview of viral structure and host response’ dengan total 628 Sitasi. Artikel ini ditulis oleh dosen dari Departemen Farmakologi dan Terapi FKKMK UGM yang terbit pada jurnal Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Research and Reviews dengan CiteScore: 15.4 dan h-index: 71. Tidak hanya artikel tersebut, sembilan artikel dengan sitasi terbanyak lain dapat dilihat pada tabel berikut;
