Dr. Widiastuti Setyaningsih, S.T.P., M.Sc. , a lecturer and also researcher at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received the RISTEK KALBE Science Awards (RKSA) 2025. The award is a collaboration between PT Kalbe Farma and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The ceremony of the RISTEK KALBE Science Awards 2025 was held on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, at the Auditorium of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Jakarta.
The award recipients were selected through a rigorous evaluation process conducted by a panel of judges. The assessment covered multiple aspects, including the downstreaming and commercialization potential of the research outcomes. The RKSA selection process is designed holistically, involving representatives from academia, government, and industry. Out of 420 research proposals reviewed and curated, three award recipients were selected.
Dr. Widiastuti received the RISTEK KALBE Science Awards 2025 in the category of Food, Beverages, Health, and Natural-Based Products. Her research, entitled Hilirisasi Tablet Effervescent Kombucha Rosella sebagai Minuman Fungsional Antidiabetik dengan Integrasi Kalibrasi AI-NIR untuk Pengendalian Mutu Real-Time (Downstreaming of Roselle Kombucha Effervescent Tablets as an Antidiabetic Functional Beverage with Integrated AI–NIR Calibration for Real-Time Quality Control) reflects her expertise in Agricultural Technology, Food Chemistry and Biochemistry, as well as Food and Agricultural Product Technology.
The recipients of the award are granted research funding under the RKSA Program 2025, which carries the theme Kerja Sama Pentahelix dalam Menunjang Hilirisasi Penelitian (Pentahelix Collaboration to Support Research Downstreaming). The RKSA 2025 adopts a pentahelix collaboration model involving academia, industry, government, communities, and the media. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that research outputs can progress toward commercialization and deliver concrete advantages to society.
Through this achievement, UGM researchers demonstrate consistent innovation, dedication, perseverance, and the courage to address national challenges while contributing to the achievement of the second Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This recognition positively impacts the university’s research ecosystem, enhances its research reputation, and strengthens the confidence of funding partners, thereby expanding opportunities for collaboration. Moreover, the award also serves as a catalyst for strengthening a robust and globally competitive national research ecosystem.
